FTC Guidelines for Bloggers and Endorsements
Have you heard about the FTC guidelines that were recently published concerning bloggers? It pretty much requires a disclosure policy when advertising or providing testimonials on products and services.
From the FTC site: The notice incorporates several changes to the FTC’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, which address endorsements by consumers, experts, organizations, and celebrities, as well as the disclosure of important connections between advertisers and endorsers.
Im guessing that this is a good thing. It protects consumers from false advertisment as well as us bloggers from accidentally making misleading claims, saving us from unwanted backlash and trouble from the authorities.
