Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil Review and Giveaway

Do you know where your food comes from? I am sure one can guess, but do we really know what process our food goes through before it hits the stores? Eek! Tropical Traditions is a company that produces Virgin Coconut Oil that is completely and freshly extracted from coconuts without chemicals, heating, or any further refining. Coconut oil is amazing to cook with, amongst multiple other uses, and has been found to be high in antioxidants.

I never really knew much about coconut oil, but I am glad to learn that it is a wonderful natural element that is useful in so many ways. From cooking to cleaning, various health benefits and natural moisturization for skin and hair, it is really a multi-use product that I can get used to! It also feels good knowing that something my family is going to ingest and use externally was derived from all natural processes.

The Tropical Traditions process:
Fresh coconut oil is hand-extracted by grating the fresh coconut, extracting the coconut milk, and then letting the coconut milk stand in a covered container for about 24 hours. After about 24 hours, the oil naturally separates from the water producing a crystal clear oil that retains the full scent and taste of coconuts. No mass producing manufacturing plants here! It is imported to the U.S. from the Philippines, all natural.

Coconut Oil is actually an ingredient in many natural items, such as soaps, lotions, massage oils, household cleaners, organic foods, health supplements and more. Not only that, but research has shown that it is known to boost metabolism and weight loss efforts, raising the body’s overall temperature and provides energy.

Benefits of Golden Label Coconut Oil

  • Can replace other unhealthy cooking oils
  • Can be substituted for butter or margarine since it is solid at room temperature
  • Flavor any smoothie or beverage with a delicious coconut taste (Pina Coladas, anyone?)
  • Enjoy it many different ways: frozen (tastes like candy), use as a spread, flavor your coffee or even by the spoonful!
  • Lasts up to two years at room temperature
  • No trans fats, certified organic, rich in lauric acid and made from real, fresh coconuts
  • Can also be used as a deep-conditioning hair treatment for damaged hair and works wonders for the skin!

My Review:
I received a jar of Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil. Upon opening the jar, the scent of coconut filled the air, it smelled so fresh! In my opinion, the quality and freshness of Tropical Traditions coconut oil is wonderful. This is one of the most premium organic coconut oils around. I took my Gold label jar along for a joy ride, here’s what I thought about it:

Test #1: Morning Coffee
The first test was using the oil in my morning coffee. This was the easiest for me to do, I enjoy a cup every morning and I love flavored coffee. I was able to substitute the sugar I normally use to sweeten my coffee with the coconut oil. Once I stirred it in, it melted fast, then I added a little half and half and it was amazing! I like the fact that it gave a slight coconut flavor, but it was not too overwhelming. Yum!

Test #2: Moisturizing the Skin
Having read about the benefits of coconut oil on the skin, I decided I would use it to moisturize after a nice hot shower. It is know to soothe dry skin, acting as a natural skin moisturizer and softener, and even has great effects on eczema, psoriasis, and other irritating skin conditions. It absorbed very quickly, was non-greasy and left my skin feeling smooth and moisturized. No need for water-based lotions, the Gold label Virgin Coconut Oil was perfect. I think I may try it on my hair in the shower next!
