5 Tips to Keep Those Smiles Healthy and Bright!

Oral health is extremely important, and educating your children about it can prevent many instances of decay, cavities and other oral problems. This is why Trident has partnered with Smiles Across America to help America’s children gain access to much needed dental care. Check out these alarming facts:

  • Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease in America
  • Tooth decay affects approximately half of all second graders and nearly 80 percent of 17-year-olds
  • Nine in 10 (92%) parents believe cavities in children are preventable
  • The majority of parents (86%) struggle to get a child to take care of their teeth
  • Clinical studies have shown that chewing sugar free gum, like Trident®, after meals helps fight cavities

So what can be done to keep our children’s teeth nice and healthy? Here are a few suggestions:

  • Be sure that your kids are brushing their teeth at least twice a day, and even between meals if possible.
  • Avoid too many sweets and sugary foods, sugar sits on your teeth and only adds to the tooth decay problem. Healthy foods lead to health teeth!
  • Once your child is ready, incorporate flossing into the daily brushing routine.
  • Be sure to visit the dentist for routine cleanings and preventative care.
  • Try chewing a little sugar-free gum after a meal. Kids love it, and it’s good for their teeth!
