In The Knick Of {Saving} Time… #MyTimeHeroes

What would you do with an extra hour a day? Take a nap? Enjoy family time? Catch up on work?

I would do a combination of the above, including household chores and watching TV, two things I am dreadfully behind on. As a busy mom, I definitely have to prioritize. Sorry broken dresser, you’ll have to sit there for a little bit while I feed my kids, do their laundry, and wash their backsides. Every. Single. Day.

Saving time is a big deal for me. Even though I find myself scrambling to make sure that everything is taken care of, anything that can help save precious minutes in the day is golden.

Here are a few time saving tips you can use in your everyday quest to keep your life priorities together…

  • Stick to a routine, create habits – Create a routine to organize your daily to-do list. Pick certain days to cook, clean, and don’t forget to save time for fun. I cook 3 night per week, making enough for leftovers. The other nights are occupied by laundry, general household cleaning, and lots of cuddles and kisses from my little ones.
  • Prepare for meals in advance – Make a list for the grocery store to avoid extra trips. Also, you can prep a lot of stuff ahead of time, lots of people cut and freeze portions of meat and veggies for quick use. Crockpot meals are a favorite, they can be prepped the night before and set in the morning.
  • Pick out clothes before bed – this is great for both kids before school and for adults. I know I sit and stare into my closet, trying to figure out what to wear. This is no longer a problem for early mornings for any of us.
  • Include all members of the family – Everyone has their own responsibilities. The kids must clean their rooms and any other toys around the house before bed time. I take care of the majority of the general household duties, while my husband is in charge of taking out the garbage, checking the mail, doing the dishes after I cook dinner, and other non-routine household maintenance.
